One weird thing I noticed is that it costs the same to make a Gloves of Dex +2 as it is to make a Gloves of Dex +3. Rules in the DMG do not differentiate between the two for caster level purposes. Or did I miss something somewhere?

I agree, for my own purposes I'm trying to create a convergence engine with Bullstrength and seeing if I can get around having the added gauntlets. But since Gauntlets of Ogre strength are so much lower cost than a belt of giant strength i might just have to add them in. Don't forget to add in a Crucible if cat's grace requires an alchemical component.

I made these up when someone asked for a mechanikal equivilant to the Gloves of Dexterity Wondorous Item. I suppose restricting them to "manual" tasks like picking locks or assembling parts wouldn't be unreasonable, but since the original Gloves of Dex have no such restriction, I didn't see any reason for these to.
Besides, the Gloves of Dexterity is one of the listed effects the Alcehmical Gauntlets can emulate, according to their entry in the LM, and so they seemed like the better choice than an Induction Belt.

What is the need for the gloves? Can't just the belt cast the spell cat's grace and be done with it? I understand that the goggles let you make certain wonderous items, but as a simple single spell I don't see the gauntlets being needed. How would they help you dodge for instance, dex is just not a hand attribute.
