This is a delicious cake. I used the recipe to make 2 9" square layers and adjusted the filling as necessary. It was then possible to put a birthday greeting on top and slice for a group. It served, along with other deserts, 25 people.

FWIW Charlottenburg is where I spent most of my time in Berlin. It's an interesting area. Didn't get to the zoo though. Have a good trip back guys - looking forward to having you back in town.

Yeah, one would think... But the real it is that the two SIMM providers in Germany that will work with the iPad do not have the SIMMs available in the storefronts. I would have had to preorder it and had it delivered to a German address. The pricing seems off as well, one provider actually wants to charge me 25 dollars for the SIMM! That is on top of the data charge. As weell almost everey single outlet we tried we found ignorance about teh companies policies (as stated on their corporate website).

In Great Britian all I had to do was walk into a 3 store hand over ten pounds. Done.

Also wireless in Germany has been spotty. The hotel in Schwerin was not bad, if somewhat short range. In Schewrin itself, forget finding wireless. In Berlin wireless is avaialbe in some places, but it is often expensive and cares that offer free wireless often have to tell me that it is broken...

Weird that the Germans would have a problem with this. You'd think their connectivity would be better than anyone's!

I've made oatmeal cookies before but never with boiling water. I tried your recipe and it turned out fantastic. I think the boiling water softens up the oatmeal a bit which gives the cookie a unique texture. I love the simplicity of this recipe !

I've found that the best thing to do with this cake is to forget about it while it's blending. Prepare the pan with some butter and sprinkle of cocoa, or clean some of the dishes, or chat on the phone.

I think it lets the oatmeal "plump" a little longer :)
