Herbed Cottage Pie

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion; chopped
650 g lean minced beef
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
110 g button mushrooms; sliced
1 400g can chopped tomatoes
1 tablespoon tomato puree
1 teaspoon yeast extract
150 ml beef stock
90 ml red wine
750 g potatoes; mashed
75 g cheddar cheese; grated
2 tablespoons fresh basil; chopped
2 tablespoons fresh chives; snipped

Preheat oven to 190 C / 375 F/ Gas 5.
Heat oil and fry the onion until brown.
Lower heat and add beef and Worcestershire sauce.
Cook for 10 minutes.
Add mushrooms, tomatoes, tomato puree, yeast extract and stock.
Cook for 10 minutes.
Add the wine and simmer.
Mix in cheese and herbs to mashed potato.
Spoon meat into a deep ovenproof dish.
Top with herb potato.
Bake for 30 minutes.
