2 lb Bratwurst
2 tbsp butter
1 small onion, chopped
2 tsp granulated sugar
1 can (12 oz/341 mL) light beer
1/2 cup dark rye bread crumbs 125 ml
Salt and pepper
In saucepan, pour boiling water over sausages and simmer for about 5 minutes; drain.
In skillet, heat butter; brown sausages on all sides. Remove and set aside. Add onion and sugar to pan; cook gently, stirring, for about 4 minutes or until sugar caramelizes. Pour in beer; add bread crumbs and season lightly with salt and pepper. Return sausages to pan; cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
Makes 8 servings.
