CBC News: Government Survives Two Confidence Votes

Well, I have to admit, I watched Parliament on TV last night to see how the voting would go. I was actually tense while the voting was going on. :)

But, Cadman sided with government to avoid an election and the speaker followed the rules of order and voted for the status quo.

So, I’m happy about that. As I said be before, better a corrupt Liberal than a Conservative. The Progressive Conservatives were not so bad, but this new brand of conservatives just make me too nervous. You might as well give the keys to the front door to Mr. Bush and have a wake for social responsibility.

Now, that being said, I’m of two minds about teh issue. First, I’m glad that it will temper Bloc power in teh house. If there had been an election I think lost Liberal seats in Quebec would have gone to the Bloc, not the Conservatives as Harper foolishly thought. However, I think that in the long run this works in the Conservatives favour and that when we do have an election next year, they will get at least a minority. I hope not, but…

I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
